Subject: Summary of June 18 Sacramento/Mothelode Chapter of CEAC

Greetings:

On Wednesday June 18 the Sacramento-Motherlode Chapter of the CEAC held a meeting at the Sacramento County Traffic Operations Center. As you will all recall the chapter has not met in quite a while and it was very encouraging to see the great turnout.

Of the 12 counties that are members of the chapter, 9 counties were represented.

The following individuals were in attendance:

·        Michael Penrose Sacramento County

·        Wes Zicker Placer County

·        Bob Blaser Placer County

·        Tim Hackworth Nevada County

·        Richard Shepard El Dorado County

·        Tim Young Yuba County

·        Mike Lee Yuba County

·        Steve Castleberry Nevada County

·        Steve Mellon Quincy Engineering

·        Doug Gault Sutter County

·        Larry Petersen Amador County

Counties not attending:

·         Alpine County

·         Calaveras County

·        Yolo County

Discussion:

·        The group discussed several issues of mutual interest and produced quite a bit of lively discussion. Among the items decided at the meeting are the following:

·        The chapter elected Mike Penrose of Sacramento County to be our chairman for the next year.

·        The group intends to meet quarterly in the first three quarters of the year on the third Wednesday of April, June and September, with the fourth quarterly meeting being the CSAC conference in November/December

·        Our next scheduled meeting is Wednesday September 17 at 10:00 at the Sacramento County Traffic Operations Center

Participation at future meetings:

·        Future meetings will include participation from Caltrans Local Assistance from District 3, District 10 and Caltrans Headquarters as appropriate

·        Future meetings will include participation from all consultants and affiliate members who wish to participate

·        Future meetings will include participation from CSAC staff as invited. (DeAnn, Kiana, Karen and Merrin - you are always invited!)

Topics for future discussion include:

·        Regular updates from CSAC staff and Caltrans Local Assistance on issues of current interest

·        An update on the Highway Bridge program from our Bridge Committee representatives (consider that an invitation Pat)

·        An update on CSAC activities from our current president George Johnson (consider that an invitation George)

·        Updates from the City/County/State/Federal Coop Committee on whatever topics are discussed

·        Updates on reauthorization of the SAFETEA-LU Transportation Bill

·        Information sharing concerning County Service Areas and Permanent Road Divisions

·        Other topics as agreed upon by the group.

·        Please pass this along to any and all affected staff members or staff at other counties that you come into contact with. I look forward to seeing you all again in September.
